“I’m fascinated by the fact that our brains trick us into seeing things that aren’t there – such as faces in coffee foam or letters in clouds. These visual illusions and perceptual errors offer a unique window into the delicate balance between bottom-up sensory processing and top-down modulations. Using multimodal approaches like fMRI and EEG, I aim to disentangle the neural mechanisms underlying top-down modulations in both healthy individuals and people with affective disorders.“
